Live-Action Ninja Turtles Film May Finally See the Light of Day!

21 Feb

Ninja Turtles. If you grew up in the late 80’s or anywhere in the 90’s, then you must know of the Ninja Turtles and their Rat Sensei, Splinter. If you did grow up in that time period, and don’t know what I’m talking about, sucks to be you, pal. Educate yourself, please.

Classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! So happy looking!

Anyway, I’ve been a great fan of the Turtles since I was a child, and I know my brother, Christian, has been, too. Today, TMNT fans rejoice! New details on the long-rumored film have surfaced, and it seems that the gears have finally started turning. Apparently, in the Director’s chair, we have Jonathan Liebesman of Darkness Falls and Battle: Los Angeles fame. This is potentially good news. HOPEFULLY, this means we’ll be seeing a more serious, perhaps darker direction for our favorite mutated teenagers. But as of yet, it’s still unclear as to the story of the film. It hasn’t been announced if it’s a sequel to the 2007 animated feature, TMNT, that served as a sequel to the last live action film, or if it’s a total reboot.

The Turtles as they appeared in their original live-action feature film.

But there’s more! We have Michael Bay, ridiculous explosion and special effects master, taking up Executive Producer duties. So there’s bound to be some fantastic special effects, and lots and lots of action, as we’ve all seen in some of his other films such as Transformers and Bad Boys. While he isn’t directing this time, I have a good feeling that he won’t settle for mediocre effects and action. It’s just not his style. This is also good news. Maybe we’ll see some nice looking Turtles in this one.

Turtle Power! These are the more modern Turtles from the 2000's era.

I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated as more information is released! Let me know what you guys think of a new film, and what you hope you’ll see this time around in the comments below!
